Sports and RecreationCheck out these fairly new sports collectibles (items not available for sale). First is an early oak skateboard with metal wheels with the great brand name of Fifteen Toes. Second is an original Snurfer brand snowboard. You hang onto the rope and put your regular shoes on the stomp pads. Can you imagine what this beast would have been like to ride? Here are some items available on line, at shows, or by appointment. Please remember that most sports equipment was used in its day, and will show evidence of normal use wear. Some of these items will be too long or too heavy and bulky to ship economically. Click on the thumbnail photos to see a larger picture. Use the back button on your tool bar to return to your page. Prices are in CANADIAN DOLLARS. US and International customers can use the currency converter on our Payment & Terms page. Item RE #309, priced at $75. Here is a pair of old Victorian ice skates. They are right and left, size 11 1/2. They are skeleton skates, the clamp-on type without bindings. Although there is surface rust on the skates, the mechanism to clamp them is working on both skates. The skates are each marked with the size, right and left, patented 1888, and The Forbes Mnf. Co, Halifax, NS, Canada, Athletic No. 5N. We understand that this company was absorbed into the CCM company. Item RE #302, priced at $50. Here is another pair of old Victorian ice skates from the same home as the first pair. They are also right and left, size 11 1/2, clamp-on type without bindings, with surface rust. The mechanism to clamp them is working on both skates. The skates are each marked with the size, right and left, No. 7 and US patent applied for 1881. The skates could be either US or Canadian made. With a little clean-up, they would be very decorative in an old sports collection. Item RE #247, priced at $75. These vintage skates are Dutch, and we understand from a Dutch customer that they are not made any more. They have decorative wood bases with turned-up toes, steel blades and leather toe and ankle straps (one ankle strap has been replaced with a newer one). These skates came with shoe laces wrapped around the skates as you see. These lacrosse sticks are all vintage, hand made, wooden frame sticks, from Native Canadian makers. The first two photos show a lacrosse stick in exceptional condition. It was made by The Mohawk Lacrosse Stick Manufacturing Company Limited, Cornwall Island Mohawk Indian Reserve, Cornwall, Ontario, Canada (see enlarged photo of label in center photo). This is item RE# 108 priced at $ 70. The Mohawk stick is also shown at the far left in the third photo. The two sticks in the center of the photo on the right were made by M. Etienne and Son in Oka, Quebec. These are items RE# 132, the Deluxe Special stick which is now SOLD, and RE# 311, the Pro-All Star stick, priced at $ 65 each. The stick on the far right is unmarked as far as we can see. It probably had a paper label that is now missing. This is a good basic stick Item RE# 312 priced at $ 45. One other unmarked but good old stick is also available - item # RE133 priced at $50. We have a pair of antique (19th century) cast iron shot gun shell fillers. We don't know much about them, except that they are of different gauges, and they both seem to be complete and in good working order. One has some brass fittings and both have wood handles. Please enquire. Here is a set of the desirable Royal Albert Curling pattern. Both cup and saucer are in very good condition. Ideal gift for the curler in the family. This matched pair of vintage lawn bowling balls have the owners initials set in ivory on both sides of the balls. They have other markings indicating they were made in Scotland. Both balls have quite a bit of wear to the rolling surface. These bowls are heavy and would make fine den paper weights or decorative desk items. We have three of these vintage skittles, perfect for juggling, or use them as decorative home decor accents. Here is a vintage child's wagon. It is marked Eaton Truline Deluxe Ball Bearings. A nice find for a collector of Eaton memorabilia. Like most children's goods, it shows some use wear, but no abuse damage. The wagon would display your Christmas presents nicely at the base of the tree. We usually keep on hand a selection of vintage wood frame showshoes. Very decorative on the wall of a log cabin, chalet or cottage. The first pair started life in Quebec. They show a witness mark on the webbing from the past owner's shoes. These are Item RE#275 priced at $ 75. In the second photo, from left to right, we have: A large pair of showshoes Item #RE236 priced at $ 85 A smaller pair of old shoes acquired in New Brunswick, Item #RE263 priced at $ 85. The last pair on the right are now SOLD. The sled in the photo on the left is a small Spartan brand sled. This sled seems to have been converted from a baby sleigh to a child's sled by removing the side rails, so it grew up with the kids. It is Item RE# 313 priced at $ 55 In the center photo, we have an old wood Torpedo sled, item RE# 119 priced at $ 65, and an older sled with decorative iron running gear and original rope, Item RE# 284 priced at $ 75. We offer the following selection but please be aware that some of these items may be too long to ship by the postal service: In the first photo, from left to right: A rare old oar with the symbol OYC which we believe to be Oshawa Yacht Club. Natural wear on one side of the blade. Original red paint and about 63" long. This is Item RE# 295 priced at $ 125. This paddle has been made into a coat rack by adding 5 porcelain knobs. It is about 59" long. The paddle retains its original label which identifies it as Handmade by the Northumberland Paddle Company, Hastings, Ontario, Canada. This is Item RE# 314 priced at $ 45. The next paddle is 66" long, an uncommon size. It is quite weathered and has lost its label. It is Item RE# 11 priced at $ 40. This paddle is now SOLD. We then have a paddle which is about 54" long, with label from the Northumberland Paddle Co. Item RE# 315 priced at $ 25. The last paddle in the photo on the left is about 48" long, Item RE# 316 priced at $ 25. The next two photos show a child's paddle, just 20" long, Item RE# 61 priced at $ 55. The brand is "Little Hiawatha" (very cute) made by the Northumberland Paddle Company, Hastings, Ontario. We offer some vintage and decorative fishing gear as follows: The fishing reel is branded Shakespeare, Inglis Canada and comes with its original box and instructions. It is dated 1956. The reel is Item RE# 115 priced at $ 85. It would make a great gift for the fisherman. The old handline is decorative and useful. It is Item RE# 294 priced at $ 35. The last photo on the right is a vintage ice fishing tip-up. Once the line is set in the hole in the ice and the fish bites, the orange indicator will tip up, alerting the fisherman. The tip-up has scultural, folk art appeal. It conjures up images of a perfect summer day in a sparkling stream, with fish to fry for dinner. The second photo is the only trap float identified with an actual name. Some of the original white paint remains. This is Item # RE251 priced at $ 45. These floats make ideal cottage or camp decorations. There is also a tradition on the East Coast of Canada of carving them into whimsical folk art Santa Claus figures. The large lamp is made out of an old mooring buoy. It has a decorative lampshade which looks like an antique map. This is item # TF91 and it is SOLD. We have other Nova Scotia mooring buoys which could be made into lamps if you so desire. Beside it is a very cute lighthouse night lamp with barometer - item TF91 priced at $ 50. |
