Vintage and Costume Jewellery
This is a rare vintage set of Whiting & Davis jewellery featuring matching turquoise stones in the clamper and on the earrings.
The earrings measure about 1" long and are marked Whiting & Davis Co.
The clamper bracelet expands to fit most wrists. It is made of metallic mesh similar to the famous snake bracelets made by this company, but the ends are intricately detailed and feature turquoise stones.
Here are two vintage sterling silver pins with Scottish thistle motifs.
Item JW502 features three light amber stones while Item JW50 features a darker colored stone, possibly a cairn gorm. Your choice at $ 45 each.
Here are two pretty Boucher pins.
Item JW319 priced at $15 is a gold tone flower marked Boucher on the back. It is about 2.25" long.
Item JW326 priced at $20 is a silver tone poodle pin with two black beady eyes. It is marked on the back Boucher Poodle with a number which seems to read 8164 (not quite legible to us). The pin is 2" high.
For those of you youngsters who know that 1980's fashion is really cool, we have a small selection of well made pins.
The first pin, on the left, is marked Napier and features a key with lock on chain design. This pin is item # JW435 and is priced at $ 25.
The pin in the middle has a square design in brass and faux pearls. This pin is item # JW434 and is priced at $ 20.
The last pin is a brass and faux pearl bar pin. This pin is item # JW430 and is priced at $ 20.
We have shown two pictures of the pins on light and dark background to highlight their features.
These pretty screw-back earrings have a striking design, typical of the fine sterling silver jewellery made in Taxco Mexico. They carry the initials CET. They are about 3.5 cm long and are quite heavy and substantial. This is item # JW420 priced at $ 20.
The rabbit pin has an abalone or paua shell belly. He is marked Sterling Taxco Mexico with the initials PVC. He has another impressed mark on the back of his ear which may be a registration mark.
Here is a sweet necklace with Greek Key design in 925 silver. The pendant is gently curved to fit and the chain is decorated with regularly spaced solid silver pieces. The chain length is about 7" on either side of the pendant, which is 2" wide. The necklace fits quite high and would look great under a shirt collar.
This is a vintage necklace on chain, featuring two small clear square crystals and a large rectangular green crystal. It is very attractive and unusual. We believe that the chain and mounts are silver, but they are not marked. The total length of the chain is about 18". The green crystal measures 5/8" long.
This is a pretty little hinged silver bangle showing delicate, labour intensive work. The showy front of the bangle features pink enamel and abalone shell entwined with silver. The bangle is marked sterling 925.
Here is a pretty silver pin with blue cabochon stone, very much in the English Arts and Crafts tradition. The stone may be lapis lazuli. The swans at each side have a Walter Crane look, and the silver detail is impressive.
The pin measures a bit over 4 cm in length and is 2.5 cm wide at the widest part. The back of the pin has a simple C type Victorian clasp. The back of the pin is marked 925 an it has a maker's symbol which we don't recognize.
This is a beautiful old piece which is very wearable today.
This finely crafted Sterling silver pin with Viking ship and Celtic knots was made in Scotland by John Hart. It is marked Iona and dates from the 1950's. It measures about 1.25" in diameter.
This is a beautiful and distinctive Edwardian pin, probably English in origin.
The triangular shape is constructed of complicated silver filigree. The center of the pin is either a pearl or a faux pearl in a beautiful flower like setting. There is a pin point size spot defect on the pearl.
The height of the pin is about 4 cm. The pin has a barrel roll lock mechanism for the clasp at the back, which is a bit stiff but working well. We do not see any marks on this piece of jewellery.
Here is a sweet little Victorian or Edwardian bar pin. It measures about 1.5" long, has four purple stones and six clear stones. The pin is a simple C clasp pin, typical of its age.
Have your choice of these Edwardian bar pins.
Items JW65 and JW267 test for silver (sterling or almost sterling grade) with rhinestones. The crescent pin has small white and blue rhinestones and a roll lock clasp.
The straight bar pin has a sky blue rhinestone and a secure safety pin type latch.
Item # JW373 has a pale aqua stone on silver bar. It has an old safety pin type latch. It is priced at $25.
This early brass and turquoise pin is probably English and late Victorian / Edwardian. It would look stunning at the neck of a high Edwardian blouse. It measures about 1.5" across and is in good original condition.
Item # JW387 is a pretty ring with a square design and a stone which has an intense turquoise blue.
The big bug brooch measures a goodly 4.5" long. He will look great on your coat collar. His head and body are made of turquoise opaque glass, and he has two light blue crystal rhinestones as well. Very cool.
We really like bugs!
Item # JW271 is a three dimensional bug in silver and turquoise, priced at $ 25. He is about 1.25" long.
Here is a cute little silver ring for folks who love their Volkswagen bug. It is marked 925.
Your choice of pins priced at $15 each. The pins feature the trillium wildflower, floral symbol of Ontario, and much loved also in Quebec and the New England states.
The pins were all made by the Canadian company Bond Boyd in the 1950's and sold through Birks Jewellers. All show wear characteristic of vintage silver and gold jewellery.
From left to right, we have Item # JW201 and Item # MA8 in sterling silver. Item # MA9 is gold filled.
We have always been fond of silver Danecraft pins because of their distinctive Scandinavian inspired designs. We usually have a couple of these pins in stock.
The pin shown here is a floral design with the silver accentuated by three green stones which form the flower centres.
One of Canada's great secrets is our early silver made by master craftsmen and craftswomen.
This beautiful cuff bangle, made of beaten Sterling silver, was designed and made by Andrew Fussell, who worked in the early part of the twentieth century in his studio in Toronto. His Scandinavian apprenticeship is noted in the simple style, showing the handiwork rather than decoration. The bangle is marked Canadian Handcrafters Guild - Fussell - Toronto - Sterling. It is 1.5" wide with a gap of 1" to insert the wrist. The total length of the bangle around the curve is 6" and it weighs 50g. We have left some of the patina to highlight the hammered appearance of the silver, but it could be thoroughly polished if that is your preference.
Just a gorgeous piece!
For the avid lady golfer, here is a vintage golf club pin made of Sterling silver. It is marked Beau (fine) Sterling and is 3" long.
The Chinese have always loved jade. The Art Deco era loved jade. It is hard to say what it is about this quiet stone, which lacks the brillance of emerald and lacks the glitter of diamond, that makes it eternally adored. Perhaps we see in jade the crystallized memories of thousands of years of Chinese culture. Our fish is carved in great detail from celadon-colored jade with gold fittings. The fish, we have been told, represents prosperity and long life. The fish is 2" long and the gold chain is 18" long.
Sherman JewelleryWe are proud of our Sherman costume jewellery in Canada. Designed and made in the 1950's and 60's, Sherman jewellery has become known for the quality of the Swarowski Austrian crystal stones used and the sturdiness of its settings. We usually have pieces in stock; please enquire.
Here are an early pair of Sherman screw-back earrings with two shades of green stones, peridot and emerald green shades. The stone setting is slight recurved. It measures just over 1/2 inch. All stones are clear, sparkling and bright. A very neat little pair of Sherman earrings which you could wear day or night.
This sweet pair of Sherman crystal earrings each feature a clear sparkling flower. They are clip-on and measure about 1" long. Perfect for a spring bride, or as a special gift.
Here are a gorgeous pair of Sherman blue iridescent crystal earrings. They are clip-on style. The earrings measure 3 cm long. The cluster of 1 large and 3 small stones at the base of the earrings project in front of the other stones for a distinctive three-dimensional effect. Very special!
Here is a very pretty suite of jewellery dating from the Hollywood glam era of the late 1940's to early 1950's. The pieces are beautifully made and strangely, not marked that we can see.
The set is shown in the first photo and an enlargement of the pin in the second. We are pricing them individually because we find that folks do not want to wear entire suites of jewellery these days.
The pin is Item JW371 and is priced at $75.

Here is a classic 1950's vintage rhinestone bracelet, perfect for holidays and seasonal glamor.
Here is a gorgeous pair of clip-on earrings with blue crystals marked Made in Austria. The earrings are about 1" long and of fine quality with each crystal properly mounted individually with claw settings.
This is quite a beautiful pin marked Austria, and as most jewellery collectors know, vintage Austrian rhinestones are usually Swarowski crystals. The pin measures about 2" long and is about 1.5" at the widest point. The elongated stones are a half inch long. As you can see, the stones are two shades of blue on a gold tone frame. It is very pretty.
This sweet pair of drop earrings measure about 1.75" long. They feature two Austrian crystals in a clip-on drop format earring. The filigree metal surrounds give the earrings a charming antique look.
Here is a vintage Coro pin featuring iridescent blue stones. It measures 1.5" across at the widest part. The clasp shank at the back is a bit bent, but it does fasten securely.
Here is a vintage Coro pin featuring pink stones and faux pearls. The pin is about 2.5" long. It is in the form of a bunch of flowers and has a definite 1940's look.
Here is a very pretty brooch. It is marked Weiss on the back. The pin is generally heart shaped measuring about 1.5" across. It has a raised gold metal rose in the center giving the brooch a rich three-dimensional effect. It has 12 rectangular stones outlining the heart. The interior is filled with 11 larger circular stones and there are two small stones. The brooch and its closure pin are in good condition and may need only a clean to make it really sparkle more than it already does.
Weiss earrings are offered here. They are clip-ons, about 1" long, in excellent condition. An affordable price for this well-respected vintage brand.

Item # JW178 is unusual in that the clear crystal stones are not foil backed. You can see the background color of your clothes reflected through the stones.
Item # JW301 has light blue stones and looks better in person than our photo.
Item # JW230 is a three-dimensional vintage Coro star pin.
Item # JW346 has some unusually shaped emerald green stones with small aurora borealis stones scattered between. Very pretty!
Here is a vintage Napier brooch and clip-on earring set with a surprisingly contemporary look. The silver tone jewellery features a three-dimensional leaf upon leaf design. The brooch measures about 2.5" across at the widest part and the earrings about 1" across.
Bakelite and Lucite Jewellery
Our bakelite pieces are genuinely vintage. Vintage bakelite pieces usually show some oxidation and patina.
Lucite is a hard plastic which was used from the 1930's to the 1960's as jewellery, and still has applications today. Our lucite pieces are genuinely vintage, and may show some patina.
Please be aware that vintage bangles may be smaller than bangles made today. They still fit most women's wrists well, but you may wish to request the internal diameter of a bangle prior to purchasing it.
Two beautiful vintage lucite pins from the Art Deco period, the fox (Item J3 is SOLD) and the horse (Item J4) with original pin fittings at the back and original paint on the horse. The fox is 3" high and 2" wide and has colored eyes. The horse is 2" high and 2" wide with eye and painted features. Vintage lucite develops a soft patina and pinkish to golden color changes in various areas which cannot be duplicated and which enhance the soft beauty of these old pins. The fox particularly has beautiful Art Deco styling.
These 1960's lucite jewellery pieces are affordable, colourful and ultra cool. Both bangles and the earrings shown are now SOLD; however the rings are available.
Fine Jewellery
Here is a fine leaf shaped brooch. It has a three dimensional effect from the raised center stem which carries four cultured pearls and five small rubies. The brooch is stamped on the back Italy 18 kt. The pin is about 6.5 cm in total length and is in clean, bright condition.
Jewellery Boxes and Accessories
This cute jewellery box is in the shape of a grand piano and like a piano, it opens and closes. It is made of French Ivory which was a tradename for a type of plastic used in the early Art Deco era.
