Blue aurene is a favorite of collectors of early Carder era Steuben. This bowl is large at almost 7" across and standing 2" high. It would be an early piece dating between 1910 and 1930. The bowl has the desirable strong silvery blue upper surface with onion-skin stretch marks at the edges. The under edge is a shiny darker blue and the contrast is quite beautiful. The base is signed Aurene 138. There is one tiny, pin-head size loss of surface at the upper edge due to a bubble burst and one small indented bubble in the bowl itself. These are often found in hand-made glass. The bottom of the bowl is in good condition with no wear marks.
Steuben Decorated Verre de Soie Ruffled Bowl - SOLD
This sweet little bowl is an early example of Frederick Carder's favorite glass, which he called Verre de Soie or "silk glass" because of its soft feel and high sheen.
The bowl has pulled feather decoration which is rare on verre de soie. The pulled feather decoration is opaque white and clear blue.
The bowl measures 4" high and about 4" wide with 4 flutes at the top rim. The base has a ground and probably polished pontil mark and slight wear appropriate for age.
The bowl is unsigned as you would expect, since verre de soie is rarely signed, but we have had confirmation from the good folks in Corning that this is indeed a rare Steuben form.
Steuben Ivrene Candlesticks - Item # GL249 - $ 600

The ivory glass shade vase was made by Steuben in Corning N.Y. in the 1920's when the factory was directed by Frederick Carder. The shade vase is hand blown in a rib mold which gives a luscious optic rib effect to the ivory glass. The name shade vase comes from the practical nature of Mr. Carder who reused molds from his lamp shade business to make closed bottom vases. The vase has a polished pontil mark and is unsigned as is typical of Carder Steuben ivory glass. This beautiful, translucent, ivory colored glass is distinctively Steuben and belongs to the jade series of Steuben colors. The vase is 5" high.

They are made of green glass (Spanish green or Antique green) which has random bubbles and outer reeding or threading at the top area. The glasses are not signed, which is common for older Steuben glass. They have a small unfinished pontil mark on the base which is concave somewhat, so that the pontil mark does not contact the furniture surface. The glasses are about 2.5" high.
They would make great little gifts for the shot glass collector or the Steuben collector.

Pair of English Opalescent Spill Vases - Item # GL105 - $ 500
Here is a rare pair of thorny stem vases with opalescent bands standing 6.5" high. Certainly English and dating about 1870, their maker is difficult to pin-point. Contemporary Silver Foiled Bowl - Item # GL91 - $ 55

Here is another contemporary art glass piece of mysterious beauty. We have had opinions that the bowl is enamelled metal. However, it is in fact silver foiled glass with brown random threading on the underside which gives the top surface an almost rust-like appearance. It would look beautiful on a mirrored or black surface in a contemporary setting.
Once again, we don't know who made the bowl, possibly Italian from the Murano region, or possibly US West Coast in origin.
The bowl is 13" long, 7" wide and about 2.25" deep.

Do you notice that the vase resembles a lamp shade upside down? We are convinced that the manufacturer of the vase also made lamp shades in the same technique.
The vase has a ground and polished pontil mark in the base, and a very partial, paper label with old hand-written ink writing (not decipherable).
EAPG Lotus and Serpent Creamer - Item # GL41 - $ 65

This Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) creamer is in the Lotus and Serpent pattern (~1875 from the Burlington Glass Works in Ontario Canada according to Unitt's "Treasury of Canadian Glass"). It is a charming rustic pattern made with and without the "serpent". It has never been reproduced in modern times according to the Unitt book.
Our American colleagues refer to this pattern as Garden of Eden and claim an earlier date ~1865 from an Eastern US source, likely the Jefferson glass company. It is possible that molds were bought and sold or that popular designs were copied. Like most EAPG, this pieces carries no maker's mark. The pattern is quite rare and all figural EAPG patterns are desirable.
The creamer stands 6 inches high. Note the charming details of the rustic handle and the cute serpent's face in the second photo.
EAPG Good Boy Child's Cup - Item # GL42 - $ 25

This Early American Pressed Glass child's mug is in the documented Good Boy pattern. There was also a Good Girl matching cup that was available at the time (about 1880), but no mugs for bad children.
